Overview
Isa (AS) ibn Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary) will descend from the heavens at the white minaret in the eastern part of Damascus, placing his hands on the wings of two angels. He will descend as a just ruler, not as a new prophet, and will follow the Shariah of Muhammad ﷺ. He will kill the Dajjal at the gate of Ludd (modern Lod, Israel), break the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the jizyah.

Scholarly Context
The descent of Isa (AS) is confirmed by the Quran (4:159, 43:61) and mutawatir hadith. It is a matter of consensus (ijma) among the scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah. Ibn Katheer dedicated an entire section in "An-Nihayah fil-Fitan wal-Malahim" to the descent of Isa (AS). He will live for forty years after his descent, during which he will establish unprecedented peace and justice, before passing away and being prayed over by the Muslims.
